Couple of folks watching Providence looking for cats - w4m

< >
You: Wearing with a crazy look in your eye and gleeful smile on your lips
Me: Looking bemused

We were hanging out in the mountains, both of us waiting months for this moment. People had gathered there, no one knowing what to expect. Not even us, really. A few ideas, a few plans... but how would it play out?

It wasn't the first time we met, nor would it be the last. But it was the best. Driving my car, following the gps on "unnamed road" after "unnamed road" - all so narrow, most covered with wet leaves and hanging ever so tightly to the edge of the mountain. No cell phone service. What if we wrecked? Or, worse, drove off the cliff... DRIVE OFF THE CLIFF! A stupid joke we'd repeat for years afterward.

Me trying to enlighten you on the joy of good music, real music. Appalachian music. You declaring it all evil Deliverance music.

Taking the train. The crisp fall air. Leaves with actual color. The smoke in the air.

The crafty shop with terrible crafts. The lady wondering if she should kick us out for having fun with it all.

We were there to watch people, to run the show, to make it happen. And we did. It was fun. But the big memories, the big moments, were the ones that had nothing to do with it all. It was just us, exploring and laughing with the world.
